Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy refills for any of your products?

We are working on refill options for our Body & Hand Wash range and we’re so excited to share it with you when it’s ready - watch this space!

What are your bottles made from?

All of our bottles are made from recycled plastic.

Many of the ingredients come from plants, does that mean I won’t have a reaction to them?

A common misconception is that because an ingredient is plant-based it makes it hypoallergenic, but we know many people have reactions to grass, pollens etc, which are all natural. Our formulas are very mild and don’t contain harsh ingredients so are unlikely to cause irritation.

Are your bottles recyclable?

Yes, all of our bottles are 100% recyclable.

Why do your products contain preservatives?

We include preservatives in our products to avoid bacterial and fungal contamination. The growth of these microbes may lead to spoilage of the product, but, more importantly, may expose the user to potential infections, especially those with compromised immune systems. The preservatives we use are included in the smallest amounts possible and we only use preservatives that have been assessed and approved for use in Cosmetic and Personal Care products by the FDA. We regularly review our preservatives to ensure that any new information that becomes available is taken into account – and that we are using the most appropriate preservatives available for our products.

Where are your bottles made?

All of our bottles are made in Melbourne, Victoria, at our factory in Ferntree Gully.

Are your products safe for my septic system?

All of our products are suitable for septic systems when used under normal conditions. That is, they shouldn’t be disposed of undiluted into a septic system as large amounts of any detergent could cause damage.

Does the green bottle affect the recycling process?

No, not at all. For our Hand & Body Wash, we have invested in carbon-free master-batch which allows our plastic to be detectable in the recycling process, making our bottles 100% recyclable.

Are your products Cruelty free and vegan?

Yes! We love and respect our furry friends and never test on animals or use animal derived ingredients - not now, not ever. Our partners and suppliers must also comply with our strict standards.

Do your products contain palm oil?

We do not use palm oil as an ingredient in our products however some of our ingredients are derived from palm kernel oil as we believe this is the best alternative to petrochemicals.

We understand there have been a lot of issues with irresponsible sourcing of palm oil, but we strive to ensure our palm derived ingredients are responsibly sourced. In line with our environmental and social responsibility criteria, we require full traceability in our palm oil and palm kernel oil sourcing back to the plantation. We are committed to ensuring our sourcing goes a step above and beyond RSPO certification to guarantee that our ingredients are not linked with deforestation and/or human rights issues and violations.

We have partnered with a non-profit organisation called Earthworm, enabling us to fully trace the source of our palm derived ingredients through our supply chain. Earthworm focus on products and supply chains to bring about more responsible sourcing, helping communities and working on the ground with the producers to find pragmatic solutions and improve practices.

Isn’t clear plastic better for recycling?

Our Shampoo, Conditioner and Kids products are made using clear, recycled plastic. When it comes to our green tinted Hand & Body Wash bottles, we are using recycled plastics that would usually end up in landfill. Our green bottles are 100% recyclable and we are able to make bottles from bottles, time and time again!

Why did you change from clear bottles to green bottles?

As we use recycled plastics to make our bottles, we often find inconsistencies with the clarity of our bottles. As a result, we made the decision to change to a beautiful, organic green colour so we didn’t compromise the look of the bottle or our brand. We believe the new green aligns with our brand while also complementing your bathroom and home.

Are your kids products suitable for children with eczema?

OC Naturals Kids products are made with plant-based ingredients, chosen to be mild on skin, and enriched with pro-vitamin B5 and Glycerin, however, were not formulated for people with eczema.  As everyone has their own individual reactions, we would suggest speaking to an eczema specialist before trying any new products.
